This was taken about thirteen minutes after the new fledgling had emerged. At first, it stood alongside the nest and looked around. Immediately a parent flew in and fed it, shown in the previous picture. Then it began, hesitantly at first, to climb the snag; the other parent flew in and also fed it. A few minutes later it flew across to this adjoining snag, which it then climbed to the top, the moment shown here. Shortly thereafter it flew off down into the surrounding brush and out of sight.
