finally at 70 years old I finally see the isle of sanmiguel azores..being part of the portuguese community in the usa..my mom came here in 1918..she past away in 1992 "seems as though many portuguese make fun of those of us who try to speak portuguese yet we do kind of good as I never had schooling in it sad we've lost our heritage becauses our parents migrated away...anyway could you come up with many photos of the maia from where she was from there is a fado old she'd listen too it was a bout a man many years ago..leaving his mother in the azores comming here to fall river mass. in hopes of makeing a better life and eventually send for his widowed mom still alive then...his words in the song in portuguese " ma!ma I came to this santa terra...in hopes of a better life hopping to return to the azores and get her out and with him in the usa.....then he says and it makes sense to us....I tried so hard and worked in this santa terra...I could never make enough to support himself he never went back his mom died all alone in the azores and he never had enough to go an say a prayer at her grave side....I am sort of like that if it wasn't for the computer I'd still be wondering what the islands looked like...it would be nice to see that village of maia where my mom and her 13 brothers and sisters came from as I still have many realitives there too...my mother was the daughter of jao & ermilinda soares d silva
