BEATLES Shea '66 TonyG

this is a crop of the original image.
Notice the bare stage setup - no stage monitors to hear themselves sing, no drum platform, no lights and lasers - just the Beatles and the bare essentials.

This concert was their last in New York, and 6 days later they stopped playing in public together permanently. After NYC they played Seattle, Los Angeles (Dodgers Stadium) and San Francisco (Candlestick Park).

Check out their concert also at Crossley Field Cincinnati 1966. A similar setup with two Altec A7 speakers (or similar) tilted back towards the stage.

Hi Steven,
you might be right on the monitor situation - it looks like they are indeed tilted back towards them. Revolutionary for 1966 ?

Thanks for checking out my photos.

Tony I seen a black and white photo taken at this concert recently in a book and improvised monitors were used.... if you look at the two inner speaker boxes at each corner of the stage they are pointing back towards the stage. They may also have been used if anyone was seated behind?

Yeah, you said it. The Beatles were THAT good. Not many could even dream of saying that now. Maybe only U2 or KISS could come close.
