Thayer's Gull

The limited amount of black on the underside of the primaries is a good way to I.D. a Thayer's Gull in flight. Study the exact primary pattern on these birds, and take particular note of the extensive white spots on p10 and (especially) p9, the extensive amount of gray on the inner webs of the primaries, and how different this pattern appears in comparison with a California or a Herring Gull.
