Fairies, magical creatures... You'll find em here. These magical creatures are figments of our imagination. The edits are obvious but at the end of every photography workshop which I taught in Jersey, the students were asked to create a collage that looked realistic using the techniques they had been taught. The fairies started their life as an example. More examples followed and a series was generated. Now that the courses at the Jersey Arts Centre have ceased the samples have ceased as well but due to popular demand, new ones are generated every now and again.

In August 2007 I exhibited this series at the Salle Paul Broca in Ste Foy La Grande (France) and for many visitors it was a great joy to see something light hearted, rather than most modern art; painting, sculpture and photography, which can be rather heavy and sombre at times. People felt that they were invited on a journey into a world of fantasy and natural beauty. Beautiful stories were told of peoples encounters with "real" fairies and in some cases the ones featured here had been regular visitors in the South West of France. I guess that I should ask Lulu, Becky, Paula and some of my other fairies about that...

One thing is certain; our imagination is the only limit in a world that consists of pixels...
