Participant observation

Though I concentrated most of my study in the coastal village, sometimes I would accompany Tagbanua men on foraging trips into the mountainous interior
where there was still primary forest. Here I'm posing with the local version of a 'backpack' used to carry supplies and to carry out products
such as tree resins collected in the forest. It includes a 'tumpline', a strap that is placed over the head, to help distribute the weight.
The Tagbanua could carry enormous loads in these backpacks, often over steep and slippery trails.

Ive never seen a Tagbanua or a batak tribe. The color and quality of your picture is still in excellent condition. Thanks again in sharing your beautiful picture.
