Challenge 10 - curves

Find a curve that stands out or is appealing to the eye. Tiny curve, massive curve, multiple curves - anything goes.

The winner of this challenge will get a prize! If you win, Bob will print one of your pictures on his fancy printer (up to 12x18 I think).

Take your pics between Sept 2nd and Sept 16th.
Voting will go from Sept 17th to the 22nd.

I vote for #11. The colours and the lighting are excellent to my amateur eyes. Yet, despite the enriching background, the curves of the container remain the focus. John T.

I vote for many... sorry... ! Number 3 and number 13 because they sought the less obvious curves and this is important as a photographer. Number 3: you feel the curve, the movement, the rush. Number 13: the focus is way off but the composition is very interesting. (I noticed the three women in the circle of light and the three dark curved openings - this to me, tells an interesting story). No 7: you have captured an interesting curve (maybe try a tight reframing of the bananas where you see three curved lines. Try a round frame. No 1 you have captured a drawing in space. Congrats to all of you!

Well, since I can't vote for my own, :) , I'm stuck between #6 for it's curve made out of lines, and #9.... because.... well, it's awesome. I think #6 is technically a better photo. #9 either has not enough DOF, or too much. The belly button is only in focus enough to be distracting/not blurred enough to be ignored. Perhaps it would have been better to shoot portrait and have it cropped out altogether? So that's #6 for me. Wayne

I'm voting for #1 because it caught my attention as it is not at all an obvious subject (really have to get down before noticing the curves). I really like #3 but the focus isn't sharp enough. I also really like #8. #12 I find could be improved with different composition as it seems to just be shot straight on rather than from angle or using the rule of 3rds to make it more interesting. Overall lots of great photos. Stephanie A.

I vote for #9. Very soft curves and nice lighting! I also really like #6 (nice contrast and I like how the subject fills flows from corner to corner) and #8 (great depth of field and very interesting angle) - Neil

I think that #13 is the best photo of the bunch, but I really feel that #9 nails the challenge, it's simple and to the point.

I vote for #8. I especially like the shallow Depth of Field and odd angle. I really like #1 too despite the fact you stole my idea before I got to it. ;-) Ron.

I would vote for #3, I mean really how many curves do you want...besides I took the shot and this is undoubtedly going to be my one vote. Oh and yeah it has motorcycles in it...all the riders are children too, really fast children! John Dooley

I will have to vote for number 13 ( I hope that this is not bad luck). Technically, it is a bit out of focus, but,... it is the best composition. There are three groups of threes, deliniated with delicious curves, and the three ladies are in the spotlight. Picture number 8 gets my second vote, for getting out of the horizontal mode, great depth of field, and nice point-de-fuite. Number 9 was close to second, daring but not too much. These curves are often noticed, for sure. Picture could have improved with a bit of scrubbing (I can demonstrate that), and contrast adjustment. Bravo to all the participants. Bob
