The Aviation Museum is contained within the structure of The Coalhouse Fort.It is run by dedicated amateurs, who give of their own time and money to present their passion for WW2 aircraft and personnel records,to the best of their ability.I think they do a really fine job.Well worth a visit. It was on my first visit to this museum, that I discovered one of the engines, belonging to the plane my uncle John had been piloting during WW2,when he was killed. He had been assisting to sight the AA gun on Clacton Pier,on the Essex coast, when the Wellington bomber he was piloting, developed problems and crashed into the sea.He was just 22.
