I have not long returned home from Norway, Finland, Iceland and Scotland. Loved watching out for the birds many of which I had never seen. Sorry but white swans just looked wrong. :) your magpie is quite different also. And to my embarrassment I discovered that Puffins fly! I had always thought they were like Penguins and didn't fly. The bird chorus was amazingly different also. Very pretty and melodic unlike our many squawking birds. Shame they don't include more nature hikes in tours. I truly wasn't interested in many of the buildings but the differing wildlife. One memory I will always treasure was the Gyrfalcon who kept flying within inches of me when I was on the ferry at Geiranger fjord.

Great photos - identified the Norwegian common magpie - rather different from our Australian magpie - beautiful long blue tail. A great collection of photos. Also helps to identify the difference between a common tern (that we have seen in Tasmania) and an Arctic tern. Maybe we saw Arctic terns migrating? Will take particular note next time.

Just finished first year WEA birdwatching course, visiting Norway for first time in the last week in November 2012. Your Birds of Norway are just inspiring. Not sure what I will see in the winter but would love to have your photos as a reference guide, do not need notes just names. Ever considered producing your photos into a guide??? I would buy it.
