'Weekly Challenge: "Portrait with a Story"
Post a portrait for us and tell us a brief story about it.
"Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter."
Oscar Wilde'
In memory,
I was going thru my mother's one photo album and this one is one, I always remember
looking at when I was younger.
I can always remember my mother saying she had black hair while her brother and sisters
had brown hair or blond. Other people would ask my grandparents if she was adopted.
No.
I think my mother, being the oldest, felt like she had to do the 'boy's work' on the farm
and felt when my uncle was born, then she wasn't my grandfather favorite anymore.
Going thru the depression years, my mother and her family felt the hardships
which is why being the oldest, my mother didn't always smile for her portraits back then.
I'd like to think, with this song, my mother did get to dance
as in her later senior years, she loved to do at the senior center.
I think of you mum, at this first Mother's day without you,
you are in my heart and memories
and how I miss you.
