The 320kg (bare hands) lift at the start. I went a distance of 51m
carrying this huge load - the equivalent of about 50 bags
of groceries or a 600cc motor bike or nearly 3 full kegs of beer
in each hand..try it next time you go shopping, riding
or to the pub! :-)
EDIT: As (bad)luck would have it, my camera man had a problem with his camera just after this photo
was taken, so there is no visual record of the finish...dang
Officially recognised here: https://ironmind.com/news/Farmers-Walk-New-Australian-Record
In training for this event I loaded the water filled gas cylinders, up to 183kg each and managed to carry
them 100m (330ft) with just three setdowns resting 3min at each setdown. I used no straps or other lifting
or grip aids other than grip chalk. I doubt anyone else in the World was capable of this at the
time and very few could do this even now!
Of course like in all sports, things progress, what was a World Record once
eventually becomes relatively standard. You can read about the Farmers Walk event and
its history in World Strongest Man here: http://www.theworldsstrongestman.com/events/farmers-walk/
