Part of the Vela Supernova remnant (2250 X 1450)

*** About this image ***

The field is located in the constellation of Vela in the southern sky. It is part
of a structure known a the Vela Molecular Ridge, a complex area of emission nebula
dark clouds and supernova remains. The nebula on the left is Gum 20 or RCW 36 and the
green and red tendrils on the right are part of the Vela supernova remnant.
