***** About this Image *****
A small part of an extensive structure in Vela produced by a star about 800 Light Years
distant that exploded some 10 000 years ago. In this section intricate filaments of expanding
excited Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms provide luminesence in red and green but the whole field is
full of various excited gases and dust making for a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours!
