Hi Jeff. You do like to keep the emperor naked with your shots. I'm not sure how to make this a more appealing shot. Maybe remove the background and stylise the subject matter through post-processing in Photoshop? Or reshoot using a more dramatic angle. As a macro - this plug could make a great abstract. It's hard to tell what you're trying to achieve with the photo without some background explaining the motivation.

Jeff, the three-pronged outlet is a good subject choice...I like how there are two, contrasting units here. I like the symmetry also. MFC

(*) If this were mine, I'd probably try to make adjustments with the background to accentuate my subjects more effectively and to provide even more contrast. I think I'd experiment with either blurring the wood or changing to a solid color background, like black or white.
