Ornamental Ironwork

Washington, D.C.

Taken near the US Capitol. There are a number of these ornate old drains surrounding the reflecting pool.

Drains are indeed great targets for photogpraphy :) I shoot them all the time. I like the texture here and the strong shadows, which give emphasis to the small details.

Helen, I like how you've cropped this and the lighting is perfect.---deb

Once again some outstanding captures, but I think this is my favourite. Well done, Helen.

Well composed/cropped...nice lighting and detail here... nice design features too . I especially like viewing the cracks...and the way dirt fills in parts of the ironwork. Your portrayal communicates a great sense of the passage of time and use here. An artistic capture of a fairly mundane subject...again, very well seen and taken, Helen! MFC

Two patters which play together or against each other. Well seen and great framing! You may guess that I would have gone b/w with this. :-)))
