Generations Apart
by Helen Betts

Ankara, Turkey

I find I don't have a single B&W image in seven years of archives, and the only toned photos are a series I did for a challenge long ago, some of which I am putting here. But then, I guess that's one of the reasons we have these challenges, to try something you wouldn't normally do!

Taken in the old, very conservative, part of the city, of a woman and her grandson, one of a group of ladies who befriended me (in the hope of getting their pictures taken, I think :-)).

Oh my goodness Helen this is such a wonderful shot; I love everything about it! The look on the little boy's face is priceless and that rough background is just perfect!

Helen, you are perfectly right. The reason of the challenge is to get challenged and think of something different than usual. Looking at your perfect example you should not have any problem to continue a great work, even it is some time ago that you have flirted with b/w.
