During Spring Break of 1987 Christohper and I took a road trip to Santa Barbara and L.A. I was recovering from knee surgery and working in a bicycle shop in Sacramento, and Chris was in his senior year at Rio. At first Chris said he had a job and couldn't go, but I convinced him that jobs were silly and he agreed. We first drove my VW bus to my mother's house at Sea Ranch with a bicycle that I had purchased for Gnarl, which is shown in the photo. We left the bus at Sea Ranch and drove my mother's Honda Prelude, which is seen in the background with a bicycle rack (and my step-father mowing the grass). We first drove to San Francisco on a Friday morning to collect DR from his job, and the three of us drove on to Santa Barbara. Gnarl and Eric drove up to SB to meet us, and we all spent the weekend with Brooks (and girlfriend Laura) in their apartment in downtown SB. At the end of the weekend Eric, Chris and I drove to L.A. for the remainder of the week. Eric was living in Venice Beach at the time and Chris loved exploring the area. I let Chris drive the Prelude on the way home to Sacramento on I-5, which was a VERY interesting experience (and one that I have never told my mother about...)

It was a great trip!!!
