a Nikon would not crap out like that ;-) great shot, if a bit painful to watch. Big vote
Guest 08-Dec-2008 23:13
OUCH, I felt sick the second I saw this...! Just like everyone else is asking, what happened?
Rocky Silverman26-Nov-2008 20:59
my camera and long lense fell on an unbalanced tripod.
It cost some to get the lense fixed.
I asked on dprview.com about damaged photo equipment or lost equipment.
Its quite common. There are some really funny-sad stories as camera gear bouncing off an elephants basket on a safari. Or my own misadventure of wading in salt water to take a beautiful picture to realize, my other lense was in my cargo pocket.
Yep, quite common though very upsetting.

This must have beend a sad day in photographic history. I would love to know what happened. I can feel the pain having dropped a camera once. It leaves a bad feeling in the pit of the stomach. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us.

Big Hit for sure. Hope you weren't looking through the viewfinder when this happened.
RAINBIRDER28-Oct-2008 15:49
An image too painful to bear!
I've dropped similar kit but with a teleconverter between lens & camera -fortunately the TC proved the weak link!!
André Bessot28-Oct-2008 13:45
