the Streak

this gallery is about the upgrades I did to a 1984 242TI...the 'Streak'.

The Streak is a beautiful 242TI: a rustfree 2 door that was brought north over 4 years ago. At that time I freshened up a B21FT motor to go in front of the M46 tranmsission and 1031/3.73.

I upgraded the exhaust manifold to the 90+ manifold; installed a EST 3in stainless exhaust system; and installed an A cam and Avalanche indexable gear [for 6 degrees advanced]. And, I took care of a few other things that required attention.

No battle plan survives contact with the enemy. In automotive, that translates into there are usually unforseen complications that screws up the game plan.

One such complication was the turbine housing. As I add in the captioning explanations, it will become clear as to why it was a problem. I decided to document this problem so that others can more readily identify the problem; and not end up wasting some time on reworking a housing as I did. Hopefully, those pics and explanations will be assistive to other enthusiasts when they are evaluating components. In hindsight, I have to say that the problem was rather obvious. But while in the middle of it, it was not as apparent a problem. That is part of it also: 'looking' at some thing and 'seeing' it CAN be two very different situations.
