Our planet is orbited by thousands of man-made satellites and their components, including launch vehicles and associated debris. These objects are commonly visible in the hours after sunset and before sunrise, when they are illuminated by sunlight. This gallery features some of the brighter satellites and spectacular iridium flares. Most were observed from my (regrettably) heavily vegetated and light-polluted property in Guelph, Ontario. Satellite pass data obtained from heavens-above.com. Objects marked with a (**) are no longer in orbit.
