Water Scavenger Beetles are smooth, convex and usually dark-coloured. They are among the commonest water beetles, and swim by paddling all six legs. Adults are typically herbivorous, while the larvae are predators. Hydrophilids replenish their air supply by breaking the surface with the pronotum to channel air into thoracic grooves.
