It is 9pm... and the light has been magnificent, but I'm hiding out
in my tent. The mosquitos are so vicious that I finally couldn't take
it any more and decided to dive for cover. I should mention that the bugnet
on my tent is a bit defunct, as on a previous trip, it suffered some damage
after I tried to light it afire... (a long story) and the front
zipper, well, I melted it clean off. After I dove for cover, I had to kill
the 786 little buggers who had snuck in thru my damaged screen door.
It was a beautiful day today and the scenery was incredible. At one
point I remember getting a little body rush when confronted with three
different species of wildflower at the same time... just amazing out here.
I came here last year and camped up on the ridge above the lake. This
time we slogged through a bit of remaining snow and found campsites right
on the lakeshore. At this altitude, the trees live a difficult life, and as a
result they are twisted and stunted in size... my very own faerie land
forest!
Life is Grand.
