Collected September 14th in Harvard MA, Oxbow area, from 25ft understory elm. I couldn't resist taking this picture. In the wild these sphinx are solitary and wouldn't long tolerate such close company. However, I think this image displays the insects crypsis so well that I'll forgive myself the inaccuracy just this once.
