Do goths try?!!! no real goths don't try, but tryhards try, because of their insecurity they always feel the need to be told they're goth. Real goths are who they are because thats their true nature and it's not all about fashion and how halloween is your make up. there is so much crap being said about this sub culture. boo!! and why does everyone think it's all about fashion and being depressed and morbid. and if trying floats your boat , you're a floating try hard. did that woman know you took her photo or are you one of these creeps who takes unconsenting photos of people.

Marillio, we just do it because it's what floats our boat. We've got a natural attraction to the aesthetic - it could be depression, it could be a morbid sense of humor, or perhaps a love of both elegance and the consequences of elegance, the dark side of elegance. Certainly, it's a style that indicates you realize the need for change in society and want to be part of it. It depends on the person, i suppose.
