Moon
Laguna Beach, CA
This is a mosaic of shots of the first quarter moon on July 3,2006. This is made from 14 shots which are in turn a stack of 20-50 images. Taken with a Meade DSI Pro II monochrome ccd camera through a Vixen VC200L, 8" cassegrain of 1800mm and f9. The mosaic was generated using the Mosaic feature of MaximDL v4.53, which works really well! Exposure time was 0.65 seconds for each frame. Seeing was poor and it took several hours to capture all the frames, as the moon appeared to be "swimming" with the atmospheric conditions.
