HorseHead Nebula - IC 434

Anza, CA

The HorseHead Nebula, in the constellation Orion, near the star Alnitak. Imaged through a Meade 10" SCT with a modified Digital Rebel and 0.73x focal reducer/flattener. Mounted on a Losmandy G-11 and guided using a Borg 77mm Achromat and a modified Logitech QC4000 webcam and 2x barlow, controlled by GuideDog software. Focusing was done manually using a Borg helical focuser with the SCT mirror locked down. This is 10 x 8 minutes at ISO 800, stacked and processed in ImagesPlus V2.75 Beta3a. I had to crop this image because of the diffraction rings from Alnitak, this nebula is such a dim object that it is tough to photograph and very difficult to see visually even with filters.
