Church in Radruz

Radruz, Roztocze, Poland

A greek-catholic church (tserkva) of St. Paraskeva, built in 1583.
It is one of the oldest and best preserved wooden church building in Europe and oldest in Poland. It has been placed on the prestigious international World Monuments Fund list (WMF).

The church is located on a hill above Radruzka stream, and with a bell tower is surrounded by a wall (present from 1825), which gives it a defensive character. It was built of fir and oak wood, using late-Gothic carpentry experience with no use of nails, only wooden parts.
