I am thinking of getting the EF180mm Macro lens so I tried my EF100mm Macro lens to see if the cheaper lens does the job. I think the 100mm Macro is not bad. What do you think?

Canon EOS 5D

One of the most beautiful and romantic flower photos I have seen. The color, the DOF, the composition... everything is perfect. This has a very calming effect... V.

It is the same question for me for the lenses. But I m falling in love with your proposal of blue time.It is the same color of baby(boy)clothe. It is the same charming mood,so delicious to look for...The mood given by the 100mm never will not be the same with 180mm .But no comparaison is possible, simply will be not the same baby...

It surely doesn't look bad to me. You got wonderful results!

That's a wonderful image...is this the older 100mm lens or the current one with the USM motor and internal focus? It's a sharp lens, slightly faster and lighter than the 180mm which no doubt, is a stunning performer. Check out the great images that Matthew Mannel has done with his 100mm. V.

Beautiful image Simon. I think the 100mm is a fantastic lens, much lighter than the 180mm as well. V

Lens worked just great. The light touch of purple color in this works perfectly.

Excellent shot! V
I 've the EF100 F2.8 macro I think it's a great lens, sometimes I wish I had the extra umph that the 180 would offer~!

It seems to give you nice control of dof. Tamron make a 90mm macaro lens that is superbly rated. I love my 50mm 1.8 and use close up filters, but you certainly need to get very close, but for a $100, you can't beat it. Canon do the same option at a similar price.

Simon I have the EF100 and I am very pleased with it, you might find that the EF180 is a bit sharper but it is heavier. This is a lovely delicate image well taken..........Jess
