Lucy's favorite waiter...
Forgive me but I do not know this fella's name but Lucy had her eye on him and I think he was quite taken by her!
She wanted her photo taken with the fella cooking too but he was a bit bashful... and Lucy understands that!
I'm sure she will look forward to her next visit to Zuzu's for handmade Tex-Mex food!
A New Found Friend
So while we were sitting on the patio having lunch, another patron comes along and was enthralled at seeing Lucy.
It did not take them long to warm up to each other.
I think this was meant to be as Lucy's eye shadow matched the woman's shirt and they seemed delighted with their new found friendship.
Who knew it was so easy to make friends?
Shhhhhh! It's a secret!
And yet... another friend, and it seems that this friend has a secret to tell Lucy!
I do believe the secret is safe with Lucy. She will not utter a word!
Corresponding with Lucy...
Dear Mr. C.
Shhhhhh! Please do not tell my friend Fay that I am using her laptop while she is out.
She has no idea that I have the ability to type or form words as I have never spoken, but inside I am filled with all kinds of feelings and emotions.
She has been so good to me and recently she and her friend Tess took me to the garden and then out for lunch.
It was wonderful and I do look forward to our next outing together.
So many people wanted to take my photo and wanted their photo taken with me. It made me laugh inside.
She is a funny person. Sometimes I wonder about her, but all in all, she means well.
Just a bit quirky, I suppose, but then again, she keeps my life interesting.
Thank you for being Fay's friend. She says you have been friends for many years.
She talks about you quite often and she says you make her laugh and I know she likes to laugh.
She also tells me you are an excellent cook.
I am sending you a couple photos. Don't tell Fay I did this. It is our secret.
Please follow my story that Fay is writing. I have not seen it yet, but she tells me there is lots more to post.
Your friend,
Lucy
Dear Lucy,
Those were wonderful pictures. I won't say or type a word that would give you away.
What do you think about a blog entitled 'Where's Lucy?' Pretty good, huh?

Oh Mr. C.
You know I am a very private person but I will admit I like to get out and meet people.
And I have had a lot of people take my photo but I really cannot understand why they would want to do that.
Fay has a couple cameras. Maybe she can teach me how to do photography too then I could take photos of the people taking photos.
Then I could join the Crazy Women's Photography Club. Would that be fun Mr. C.?
Thank you for writing to me. It brings so much joy into my life.
Lucy

Oh, Miss Lucy,
I don't know when I've ever written to a mannequin before. This must be a first.
By all means (if you have any) you should have Fay teach you to take pictures.
This is a time when people are looking for ANYTHING to get involved in, so that's why they kiss you and talk to you, and take your picture.
They're nuts!

Emergency! Emergency!
Well... not really! We were actually heading out for the day when Lucy spied the ambulance at the local fire station.
That demanded a sudden turn to the right and as luck would have it, one of the paramedics was out for a run.
So, I stopped and asked if it would be OK if my friend might see the ambulance parked out front.
He was most helpful and even said I could park immediately in front of the fire station as long as I didn't block the exit if they got a call.
Fantastic!
And then he suddenly realized who my "special friend" was and very kindly asked if I needed any help. Paramedics are that way, you know. Always wanting to help and do things for people.
Perhaps he thought I was personally in need of help being that I was driving this mannequin around.
Oh well... I thanked him and said we would be fine and said that Lucy wanted a photo next to the ambulance.
So I got a quick shot before a call might come through that would send them off with lights flashing and sirens blaring to save another life.
Hanging out at the fire station...
Lucy decided to hang out with the guys at the fire station for a while as they were exercising.
They took the situation in stride as if there was nothing unusual about it.
And I think Lucy very much enjoyed herself.
These guys are thrown into so many chaotic situations with all kinds of people that they have come to accept whatever comes their way.
It is great to know they are so close if their assistance should ever be needed and nice that they are keeping themselves in shape.
Thanks for allowing Lucy to visit with you!

Patiently waiting...
I think Lucy was a bit confused by all the activity Thanksgiving morning as I prepared our dinner.
I'm sure she could hear a bit of clanging coming from the kitchen and as the time approached for daughter #2 and her family to arrive,
it was obvious that something was cooking and was even making Lucy a bit hungry.
But then again... she doesn't eat much. Perhaps it is because she just wants to keep her girlish figure.
Hmmmm... don't we all, but we won't go there!

Lucy gives thanks...
Lucy was absolutely glowing to be included in the family celebration and got to sit at the head of the table. She listened to all the conversation and banter but never said a word.
Of course my daughter could not resist taking a photo of Lucy at the table to share with her co-worker/band director.
She immediately got a response back that said: "I don't even know how to respond to that!"
And then she sent it to another co-worker and got this response: "Well... now... that... is interesting!"

Oh no! The unthinkable has happened!
My grandson has had a habit of coming in the house and immediately approaching Lucy, pulling off her hair and then running around the house hysterically with her wig on his head.
But he is getting older now and on Thanksgiving day he was the perfect little gentleman until the meal was over... and then the unthinkable happened. Had to catch it on pixels!
Of course... Lucy was mortified!
Can I get you more wine Lucy?
So Lucy... Wanna go to the lake?
It was a lovely fall day and I thought perhaps Lucy might like to get out of the house again, and what better place for a girls' day out than White Rock Lake in Dallas.
Being a weekday, it shouldn't be too busy and we could just spend a relaxing day together.
Lucy was all for it, so off we went in the "lalamobile".
As we are driving along they are giving a weather report.
Seems that we will be having 40mph wind gusts today... and yes, as we cross Lake Ray Hubbard I can feel the force of the wind on my car.
Hmmmm... so maybe this is not such a good plan as I surely wouldn't want to risk Lucy losing her wig, but we ventured on.
Upon arrival at the lake, it was gusty indeed.
Oh dear, what to do? Best thing would be to find an area sheltered from the wind.
So I find a perfect spot and proceed to get out of the car and get Lucy's cart out of the back. About this time, I fella is approaching my car with an inquisitive look on his face.
Oh yes... it must be about my multitude of bumperstickers.
Now I wonder, is this going to be a positive or a negative encounter.
It was my lucky day. The more he read, the more he laughed, and then we struck up a conversation.
By this time I am sure he figured out that I am an "outrageous older woman" (just like one of the bumperstickers says!).
Anyway, who else would plaster the back of their car with so many bumperstickers?
I simply explained that I have gone rogue in my old age, have kept mum about a variety of subjects due to my professional standing, but now, it is my time to speak out.
He shared with me that he has been caring for his 90 year old mother who is in poor health, and as a nurse, I know how very exhausting and stressful this can be,
and he looked like he was in need of a good laugh.
That's when I explained that I brought my special friend to the lake today, and would he like to meet her?
Well, of course he would.
We walked to the passenger side of the car and he was prepared to meet my friend but I don't think he was prepared for what he saw,
when suddenly he broke out in laughter and wanted to know what this was all about.
More chatter ensued. What a pleasant exchange and a lovely beginning to our day at the lake!
Save Winfrey Point...
We are driving along the lake and decided to stop at Winfrey Point.
For those of you not from the Dallas area, let me update you to the significance of this area of the lake.
It is in close proximity to the Dallas Arboretum and at one point, the arboretum wanted to use this piece of land for a huge parking lot.
Needless to say, this enraged those of us who love the lake and the surrounding area.
Perhaps some see this as little more than prairie land but I find it to be quite beautiful and worthy of saving.
Lucy... being the activist that she is, has taken a stand on this issue (or should I say, taken a "sit" on this issue)!
Long live Winfrey Point!
Less parking lots and concrete...
More nature...
Oh no!
This little hillside at Winfrey Point is only steps away from a small parking area which made it quite convenient for posing Miss Lucy in that venue.
As I hauled her out of the car, I looked at the car next to mine and inside was obviously a biker, exhausted from his ride, dozing in the driver's seat with his bike strapped to the back of the car.
So I get Lucy posed and go back to the car to get my camera.
As I am shooting the scene, there is a big gust of wind that blows Lucy's wig off and sends me scrambling up the hill with camera in hand to try to catch it.
I finally grabbed it about half way up the hill. Whew! Lucky catch!
So as I am heading back down the hill to Lucy, I happen to look over at the car with the biker and he is wide awake and laughing his butt off!
Needless to say, a bit of a conversation ensued and I suppose we gave him a good laugh for the day!
