1 June: Revolution House

Chesterfield

Had to nip to Chesterfield to look at some fencing and passed Revolution House on the way.
This building was once an alehouse, known as the Cock and Pynot (pynot is a dialect word for magpie).
It is here that three local noblemen (the Earl of Devonshire from Chatsworth, the Earl of Danby and Mr John D'Arcy) met to plan events which led to the overthrow of King James II in favour of William of Orange.
Didn't have time to go in or wait until the man had moved from the doorway!

Can't beat a thatched house and cottage garden like that. Lovely.
