30 April: Anemones

According to my flower book these are anemone blanda.
But I didn't plant them in our rockery so I don't know how they got there.
Maybe the gardener from next door decided to donate them to me!

Lovely colourful flowers they are too! WRT where they came from - there is a lovely thing called a seedbank which is nature's way of making sure that plants survive. Seeds can sit in the soil for sometimes hundreds of years before they decide the conditions are right to germinate. It could be that they are a relic from the past or that they have blown in on the wind or in the gut of a bird or mouse but in any event they have brought a bit of joy to the world which can never be a bad thing!

They're very bright and cheerful, perhaps you can prevail upon him/her to donate some more?! ;)
