Meersbrook Park, Sheffield

Five years ago I worked near to this park. It's quite a steep park and from the top you can view the City. HERE'S a pic of the view I took in 2007.
The park hasn't changed much apart from this tree carving. When I've more time I must go back and see if there are others.

OK - this is a question you may not be able to answer - is it the stub of a cut-down tree that still has its roots in the soil or is it a "segment" of a tree trunk that has been somehow mounted in the ground?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the rest of him was underground...?! Perhaps that's why he looks a bit sullen.... Beautifully lit....
