THE INCORRUPTIBLES
Jacinta's and Francisco's bodies were not here.

In her memoirs, Sister Lucy writes of Francisco:
"From time to time, [he] would say: 'Our Lady told us that we would have much to suffer, but I don't mind. I'll suffer all that She wishes! What I want is to go to Heaven".

After we left the Fatima Walk, we came to the cemetery where the Fatima Seers were buried, probably several miles from the Walk, and within the village. The cemetery was located cross the Parish church, where they were all baptized. The Mass was in session during our visit, we could not come in.

The 2 family grave lots, Marto and Santos, were perpendicular to each other. The family customs of the village were to bury one on top of each other in one lot. The 2 families were brother and sister. The bodies of Jacinta, Francisco were not kept here any longer, instead they were both moved to the basilica some time in the 50s.

As prophesized by the Blessed Mother, both Francisco and Jacinta died soon after the apparitions ended, in 1919 and 1920 respectively.
The beatified Jacinta Marto, diseased at 10 years old in 1920, was exhumed two times. Jacinta body was incorruptible, in the first exam and final move several years later. There was no odor during the exhume, instead the Rose fragrance came from Jacinta_s incorruptible body. The beatified Francisco Marto was diseased at 11 in 1919. Francisco_s body remains were left with the incorruptible heart, for his desire of consecration to the Blessed Mary.

Sr Lucia was buried in the basilica in 2005 after her death.
