A comma.Paused in the sentence of reflection.Contemplating its position among all things.Perhaps poised not far away from a question mark or an exclamation.Pondering among the textured syllables of time.Resting upon the space of its choice.As a fulcrum along the way,between before and after.Until an inner voice stirs it forth again.
Much more than clever, this image is a masterful synthesis of light, texture, pattern, and shadow. The steps are a metaphor, of course, for life. He has stopped midway in his journey to take stock of where he has been and where he may be going. The long shadows on the steps imply his own destiny. Soon he, too, must be up and moving on. Where to next, he seems to thinking. Marvelous image -- it will always be with me, Kal.
