Workers on Airboats Keep Watchful Eye - April 11, 2008 - Opening Day

Bonnet' Carre Spillway

Because the opening of the bays is a dangerous task with men physically handling the "needles" as they are pulled from the bays, airboats are deployed on a rescue mission should anyone fall off the structure into the rushing waters of the Mississippi.
In the background is Entergy's "Lil Gypsy" Electricity Generating Station in Montz, Louisiana.
Cars and people line the levee for the opening of the spillway.

I thought the man in the forground had a rifle at first, expecting gaters or something, glad to see someone is thinking ahead and looking out for the safety of the workers. Hope all went well.

Great capture!
