Camp Memory Closed by Spillway Opening - 2008

North of Airline Highway

Normally a recreational area and boat launch this is in the path to Lake Pontchartrain. Past experience shows that as soon as the Spillway locks are closed this area will return to normal in a few weeks.

other sizes: small medium original auto

But they will have some great crawfishing soon.

Some price to pay for "saving" New Orleans. All that fresh water goes into the normally brakish Lake Ponchartrain, ruins the shrimping (from what we're told) driving up the price. But then, it does alleviate some of the upriver pressure also.

I thought this might be interesting a google map of the area you are photographing.

A small sacrifice if it relieves pressure elsewhere...great shot.

I trust the waters won't raise to the height of the transformers on the power poles.
