The two iron gates are all that remain of Bruning's Restaurant at West End. On this night a group of New Orleanians sponsored a Lakeview tour of Holt Cemetery, an art center and a Baptist Church where performances of music were held. Lakeview is still in ruins and about 90 per cent uninhabited. The tour ended back at this site with food, drink and music.
It is an effort to show others what Katrina did and also to gather people together to experience the ambiance and spirit of New Orleans.
Below is a photo I took at the same site 6 weeks after Katrina. The bridge in the background is no longer there, having been destroyed by a project of the Corps of Engineers.
