If you live near the parade route during Carnival season, particularly the Sunday before Mardi Gras when there are three big parades lasting from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., you hire a brass band to play on your front porch, invite family and friends and you have a hearty party.
People walk back and forth to the parades and in between eat gumbo and jambalaya and have a few libations. So, you have a few party crashers dancing on your porch, so what. It's Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
The brass band kept the crowd jumping and notice there are no amplifiers or microphone. My niece and her husband really know how to throw a party.
