Bonnet Carre' Spillway

This steam locomotive was built in the early 1900's. It takes occasional excursions and members of the club get to take a ride. Its top speed on the trips is 40mph but when it goes past you with all of its steam power it seems a lot faster.

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Fantastic shot Coleen, that larger puff of white smoke came from the stream horn, we're lucky you didn't drop the camera.

They just keep chugging and chugging and chugging. Great shot Coleen!

Takes me back to my childhood during WWII. We lived in DC about a mile from a big railroad facility and I used to hear the whistles at night. Also traveled on a few steam driven trains.

A nice looking Mikado! I'm glad to see a wood trestle still in use too.

Super capture. I love the dark smoke in the front and white steam at the back.

Great photo (we're prejudiced) of this old lady. Glad to see you were able to see her.
This was a test run, to test the engine's ability to make longer excursions. It is moving to see a part of history sich as this.
