Hurricane Isaac in August destroyed their nest of many years. The winds that lasted 36-hours snapped off the top of the massive cypress with his 1,000-2000 pounds nest. Now, he has begun a new nest in a cypress tree very near his old place.
Nesting season is almost here, but first he has to build a nest. The nest is not made of twigs and sticks, but of big branches, a lot of work for this bird.
He must have been very puzzled when he returned last week to find his nest of so many years gone, gone, gone.
