Many of the wading birds have chicks in their nests at this time of year and the rising water of the Mississippi River carries fish right to their doorstep in the Spillway.
A cold front arrived during the night and with the sounds of rushing water coming from the locks and through the small canals of the Spillway, one felt transported to another part of the country instead of the wetlands of Louisiana.
