In keeping with a 195-year-old promise, Louisianans joined the Ursuline Sisters for the Eucharistic Celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lady of Prompt Succor.
The nuns, in 1815 promised that a Mass would be celebrated on January 8 of each year in thanksgiving for saving the City of New Orleans from the British.
New Orleans' new Archbishop Gregory Aymand presided.
