Ursuline Keeps 194 Year Old Promise

National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor at Ursuline

In keeping with a promise made when the British were defeated in the Battle of New Orleans, the Ursuline nuns in New Orleans celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for the 194th year.
As is the tradition, the Archbishop of New Orleans along with other bishops presided at the Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor on State Street in New Orleans which is owned by the Ursuline nuns.
The Te Deum has been sung every year.

A rich tradition in deed! You must have been in the balcony . . . or flying on angel wings.
