Canon Dodgson came to Ripon in 1852. His son, known as Lewis Carroll, was twenty years old.
It is said that this misericord showing a rabbit being caught by a griffin with another rabbit disappearing down a hole, may have given Carroll the idea for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
