Stems

Home, kitchen

I seem to be doing a lot of photos with wine glasses this month. I really like wine glasses.
I pulled these out of the dishwasher and set them on the counter before putting them back in the cabinet. Then I saw how they were backlit by the kitchen window, so I grabbed the camera.
The shadowy part behind the center stem is actually the shadow of the window divider behind the blinds. You can see it through the bowl of the glass, continuing on up, and refracted in the other two glasses. I couldn't find a way to get the shot without the shadow line in the frame, so I lined it up behind the center glass.

I like them too .. this is really good. it would be fun to work on too, I'd be tempted to reshoot for another version with a higher dof and then remove the shadow from the middle stem and make the whole thing really sharp and contrasty

Symmetry works well for me, when it is the very purpose of the image. I would be interested in seeing the same image with a lower aperture to be "crystal clear" from front to back.

Superb macro! I really like the patterns you have created here and the lighting is spot-on!
