Calling all Cranes!

Kensington Metro Park, Michigan

As we quietly and carefully moved closer to the cranes...
They suddenly raised up and called out to their friends that flew overhead.
We were more than startled by the sudden outburst (more like scared out of our boots!)
It was an amazing sight and we felt so fortunate to experience it so close and personally.

Taken with the 1.4x tele-converter, zooming out allowed them both to fit in the frame.

1/2000s f/8.0 at 498.0mm iso800 full exif

Hi Sayer, And these do make an awful sound! I had some in my backyard one day and they scared me silly. It was the first time I had even seen one and their cry preceeded their appearance. This is a terrific capture! \/

Incredible image.. This is the most stunning photo of a sandhill crane that I have seen.. I also use the Sigma 300-800 (w/1.4TC occassionaly).. Love the lens. Great image.. VVV
