Blue Lagoon

The Galactic Center taken by a Canon 1Ds DSLR, 3x110sec exposures, Daylight White Balance. Nil colour manipulation. Note how blue the Lagoon and Trifid are. This is because the 1Ds (and the human eye) is >10x more sensitive to blue H-Beta and green/blue OIII than to red H-Alpha. The Lagoon seems to spew out roughly equivalent intensities in the Blue/Green as in the deep Red H-alpha, but since the unmodified camera is >10x as sensitive to the Blue/Green, you end up with a Blue Lagoon. Canon 100/2.8macro USM lens used at f3.2, ISO 1250.
