This is in the beautiful inlet formed by lava that overtook the area about two hundred years ago. It is a natural sanctuary for the green sea turtles around the Big Island of Hawaii. The turtles come to rest and sleep over the warm rocks after a day eating on limu seaweed in the bay. The ocean surf behind the background stack of lava rocks was pretty rough that day, the turtle likely more than welcomed the rest. It opened its eyes lazily for only a few brief moments.
