Middle Key Lighting

This week I need to submit for class one of my “middle key” shots. Will Gibson, the teacher, required that we shoot a series of pictures that once the lighting was set the photographer could shoot away and give the images to an “assistant” who could print them without any further processing. (For example mass production shots of senior pictures.)

The lighting here was a two soft boxes, a hair light, and a light on the background.

I converted to b/w just for a different look.

I like the quality of this image. That 5D, the right lights and a good trigger man, sure makes for a good shot. The pose is a tad obvious.
