What a great place it was in my time (50s 60s) but I don't remember that roof area being used for anything back then, it would have been ideal for an outside cafe or the like. Let's hope it gets its whole refurbishment and lives on for many more years.

Don't PLESE let this wonderful building go the way of our incredible Art Deco cinema. It's now flats, the local council had the opportunity to buy if for a pittance but as they always do they let it fall into dissaray and decay. It was the flagship of a local architect and they permitted it to burn down. The town lost so many great memories and a real 1930s cinema. Please people of Bute, learn from our mistake, you'll regret it if you don't. I would have loved to see in this building, maybe on my next visit.

Only one little thing to whisper - no shot of the ticket office with the cards and leaflets etc of the stars who appeared there in its heyday. Hopefully someone will not tidy up, and throw away the 'old tat' during the refurb. Losing those old bill etc would be criminal, and I hopw someone is set to preserve them, and any others stored away.
